  • Antidepressant medications

If you're like me, you've had experience with at least one (if not several) different antidepressant medications. At the present time, I'm on Effexor and have found some very interesting news concerning this drug. The withdrawal symptoms once the drug is stopped are
horrible, yet drs. seem reluctant (and almost ignorant) of this fact when they prescribe it. I'm going to do some research into this and see if I can't find more information dealing Effexor and its withdrawal affects. If you have any questions, information or conversation
regarding Effexor or any other antidepressent, please feel free to join in.

    Q: Remeron,zoloft and wellbutrin
    Hello all,

Dr. had me on remron, which helped greatly but I could not stop eating. Gained much weight.

Dr. took me off that and put me on zoloft, which also worked well and greatly decreased my eating. However it completely removed any desire for and ability to have sex.

Saw Dr. yesterday and he put me on wellbutrin 100 mg.

I take Zoloft 50mg. in A.M. and starting today I am to take wellbutrin at 4 P.M.

    Hope this works!

Q: Hello All, Serzone any one?
I have read the previous posts and find I am in good company. My wife is trying to understand, like those who have posted, mine is jus putting up with it until I "get over it". I started on Serzone two weeks ago and feel some better, not any side effects that I have noticed. I find that most people, my wife included, see depression as just a "bad mood" that will change if I would only try. Not very comforting.

I'm glad to read that I am not alone.

    Q: Feeling alright
It's three days post Effexor. My earaches and sore throat are totally gone now.I feel like my "old self" again.I don't know what my blood pressure is,but I'm not worried about it. By the way, Cerulean, your blood pressure and cholesterol should be monitored while taking Effexor. You are so lucky to go so long without problems on this drug. I just don't think it's realistic to believe some other parts of our bodies don't pay a price for the chemicals we introduce to our systems. They are not as innocuous as psychiatrists would have us believe. Even weight gain means more stress on the heart, joints etc.

You just have to really listen to your body and know when it is trying to tell you something. Sometimes I think I am expecting too much, that is-no depression and no side effects.Last night I saw a program talking about antidepressants. It was saying that when
most of these drugs were initially tested it was for a period of usually no more than two years.Even the drug manufacturers don't know what long term use means for the user. Most of them are only intended for periods of six months. Some people they spoke to have been on Prozac for ten years!

    Any comments?
